Recently a thread on my facebook web design group popped up, everyone was showing off their workspace. I saw one instagram worthy picture after another. Pens poised at the perfect angle beside arranged matching cups and other color coordinating computer peripherals.
I laughed.
"You guys and your cute, clean desks. My desk is like my mind - full of explosions. Too much going on at one time!" 😆
I have been in business since 1995 and my office reflects this. I'm busy. I'm homeschooling two teenagers, running my web design business along with a few other side hustles, making every meal from scratch to accommodate crazy food allergies in my house and caring for a sweet girl with a rare neurological disorder. I'm not a, "hot mess" but I am a mess. I am a lovely, full blown chaos of to-do lists and art and notes for my grocery lists and assortment of writing story plots, staplers and random Batman figurines (because I am Batman, duh).
And I'm unapologetic.
Because life is REAL and messy! Life isn't your perfect Instagram capture. The sooner people realize that, the sooner they will stop beating themselves up for not being flawless.
