There they are, lurking in the background of millions of websites, video channels, news pages and email, trying to sell you plans while tracking your every move and selling that information to their other clients who have paid them to track you...
It's like a dysfunctional catch-22 of a possibly unwanted relationship that really needs a good intervention and maybe a restraining order.
So what IS HubSpot?
Simply put, HubSpot began as a Marketing Program in 2006. It's frequent and countless articles regarding SEO (search engine optimization) quickly became entangled in every search result you could imagine. Need help being found on Google? There's an article from HubSpot.
Want to manage your incoming Leads? Well, lookie there! An article from HubSpot.
Now since Covid wormed it's germy little way into our lives in early 2020, HubSpot has decided to join the website platform industry.... because why not? Everyone else has too. (looking at you, MailChimp)
I mean, Marketing was already their thing (they say Marketing, I say stalking, *cough, cough*) and websites ARE technically marketing!
What could go wrong? (let's not discuss that part today)
Welcome to HubSpot's Website Solutions!
It literally looks like everyone else's templates...
So we see the outside, what's the control dashboard look like?
After searching for DAYS - for a company that knows about SEO, it's really hard to find anything on their website even using the search function. Are these things intentionally hidden to force you to connect with a salesperson or are they incompetent? No Comment from me on that one...
We finally found an article on HubSpot that shows us what we're wanting to see - the dashboard or control panel. In other words, how you build the website.
A quick look shows us an eerily familiar layout to the highly acclaimed easy drag and drop Elementor of WordPress. Hmm...
Okay, so now we know you're emulating WordPress Elementor OR you have partnered with them, that would take more digging than I have time for today. My seriously burning question needs an answer now....
So let me just recap, I too can have a website with HubSpot for only $300. a month minimum?
Yeah, I'm with them. Not exciting.
So our original feelings about HubSpot's stalking, erhm, "tracking" services has evolved to a worse, sort of sick to my stomach feeling about their, "website" services.
Usually we will tell you to choose the best web platform for YOUR needs. But in this case, I'm going to say run, don't look back. And be sure to block those cookies. They are seriously invasive.
I've been programming, designing, writing and publishing professionally online since 1995. I've worn many hats throughout my life, but the common core of my career has always been media. Besides theportfolio you see on TNW Creations, my internet presence has been substantial for over 2 decades. In 1995, while still in college, I founded TNW Creations and became part of the grassroots development for teaching the Lakhota language online. By 2004, my bilingual work was listed on many sites, including National Geographic , Encarta and Touchstone Pictures Hidalgo. When I'm not developing and writing, you'll find me managing MagicStoryLand.Com, creating kid-friendly game & video content, investigating and initating hostile website takedowns, posting salty articles about cyber threats, moderating UnifyLife.Org and enjoying my community, church & family.
