In 1997,
Tashna published her first book.
"Lakhota Name Translations." A book that combined her love of names and their meanings with their
Lakota translations. By 1999, after years of compiling
and writing, she published, "The Concise Lakhota
Dictionary."

For several years after 1999, she worked in digital format
only, publishing her dictionary on CD-ROM and
online. But in 2004, she returned to hard cover and
made her Pocket Dictionary, "The NEW English - Lakhota
Dictionary" available to the public. Not long
after, she created a workbook to accompany the Pocket
Dictionary. She says her workbook is her favorite work
on the Lakota Language to this date.
2005-2007, Tashna was busy raising her brand new family and
during that time also wrote several children's Lakhota
books. She never stopped working on her Lakhota
resource books, but her progress slowed tremendously.
Finally in
2011, after 16 years of working with the Lakota language,
Tashna turned her focus towards children's literature.
